后现代主义的兴起源于本世纪50年代以来西方思想家对发达资本主义社会及其文化状况的不同体认,它代表了一种超越现代主义的情绪,就其基本特征而言,界定明确的后现代主义并不存在,所谓后现代主义就是众所纷纭的后现代话语,而一种趋向统一的话语不能被称为后现代话语;后现代主义的意义并不在于它和现代主义的对立,而是在于它反映了现代主义的内在悖论,并旨在重释现代性,因此,所谓破坏性的后现代主义和建设性的后现代主义的划分是不可取的;后现代主义作为一种知识态度值得赞赏,作为一种边缘话语也有发人深思之处,但这种知识态度和边缘话语预设了或者说逻辑地导向一个后现代的世界图景,这种世界图景是支离破碎、晦暗不明的,因此可以说,后现代主义看出了当代西方社会的“病症”,却开错了“药方”;后现代主义对当代中国的启示性在于,我们应立足于中国文化传统的文本,立足于中国文化现代化历史进程的文本,阐明属于中国文化的“问题意识”,从而推进中国文化观念的革故鼎新。

As far as its essential character is concerned, the post - modernism equal the post - modern discourse toward whichpeople's opinions are varied.A definitely defined post - modernism doesn' t exist.The significance of post - modernism doesn't lie in its antithesis with the modernism. It reflects the inherent dilemma of modernism and expects to re - explain modernity. So, the so - called discrimination between destructive post - modernism and constructive ane constructive post - modernism isn't desirable.As one kind of attitude toward knowledge, the post - modernism can be appreciated, while being an edge discourse.it also has something that can make people think deeply. However, the post - modern's world picture which it has supposed or where it will lead to logically, is fragmental and dark. Therefore, we can see that the post - modernism has already seen the disease of the western society, but it has given a wrong prescription. The enlightment of the post - modernism for china is that we should have a foothold in the Chinese traditional culture's texts, should footingthe texts of Chinese culture modernization historic progres.We should clarify'the problem consciousness' which belongs to the Chinese culture, and in the long run to accelerate the reform of the Chinese culture ideas.
