河北武安磁山遗址

THE CISHAN SITE IN WU’AN,HEBEI PROVINCE

磁山遗址位于河北省武安县西南20公里,属磁山公社磁山大队。遗址所在地为太行山脉的鼓山山麓,在磁山村东南约1公里的台地上,北靠磁山铁矿,南临沼河,台地高出河床25米(图一)。一九七三年夏,河北省文物管理处和邯郸市文物保管所先后作过调查。一九七六年为配合当地水利工程,省文物管理处协同邯郸市文物保管所、邯郸地区磁山考古队训练班进行试掘,试掘面积约一千余平方米,试掘情况已作报导。不久,省文物管理处和邯郸市文物保管所进行正式发掘,至一九七八年八月结束,发掘面积总计2579平方米。发现房址(二座)。

The Cishan site lies on a terrace 20 kilometers southwest of Wu'an county,Hebei pro-vince,or one kilometer southeast of Cishan village,bordering on the Ming River in the south.A total area of 2723 square meters was excavated between 1976 and 1978.The cultural deposits consist of three layers.With the exception of the third layer whichrepresents the Shang culture,the first and the second ones are of the Neolithic age.Thecultural content of the latter two is characterized by the popularity of the pottery decora-ted with comb edge-impressed designs,and the pottery stand,pottery yu food vessel andan abundance of stone rollers and stone saddle-querns which have never or rarely beenfound in the central plain.But the pottery objects greatly differ in body,design andshape,indicating the early and later stages of their evolution.Cishan is an earlier Neolithic site.Carbon-dated at about 7,000 years old,it predatesthe Yangshao culture.The excavation provides valuable material for the study of China'sNeolithic culture and its relations with other cultures.
