The human skeletal remains studied in the present report were collected during the excavation of the Neolithic site at Miaodigou in Shan Xian, Henan Province in 1956-1957. According to the excavation report, they were unearthed from the tombs of the Miaodigou Ⅱ Culture (Longshan Culture) at the site. The material examined in the present report consists of thirteen male skulls, seven female skulls and some postcranial bones.Measurements of the skulls indicate that they are related to the modern East Asiatic Mongoloids and shows an even greater degree of resemblance to the Yangshao and Dawenkou series of north China. This fact suggests that the people of various Neolithic cultures in the middle and lower Yellow River valley were closely related to one another.
