An excanation Report In 1986 of Baijinbao Site, Zhaoyan County, Heilongjiang

摘要 Situated about 50km west of zhao youan county and on the Secondary terrace on the left bank of the Neijiang River, the Baijin bao site covers aqqroximately 180,000 sq m. It was excavated twice in 1974 and 1980. The third season of excavation in Bai jin bao site was in 1986, conducted by the Heilongjiang Provincial Institute of Culural Relics and Archaeology and the Archaeology Department of Jilin University. The total area excavated was 1053. 6 square meters, in which there are 54 horses, 356 ash-pits and 2 tunnels. The artifacts unearthcd include pottery vessels, stone implements, bone tools, shell tools and bronzes. According to the stratigraphy and the contents in it, this site can be divided into three periods. The first period dates between the Neolithic and the Bronze Age and is the first one discovered in this area. The second period, which is acknowlcdged as the " Baijinbao Culture".
