空间是一种社会产物.空间与人类的关系是一种互动的关系:人的空间观是在长期的社会实践中形成的,分属不同文化的人会有不同的空间观;空间是文化的一面镜子,从这一镜子里,我们可看到一个文化的真实面貌;空间在社会生活中,不仅有物质功能,而且有象征功能,它被赋予某种意义,变成一种无声的语言,是交际活动中人与人之间关系调节的武器.

Spatial conception grows out social interactions and numerous practices. Different cultures generate different spatial conceptions, the latter being a mirror of the true face of the former. In social life, space has not only material functions, hut also symbolic functions. Imbued with meanings, it has become a kind of language instrumental in human relations.
