In May of 1991, a tomb of State Chu was excavated af Changtaiguan to the north of Xinyang City by Henan Provincial Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Relics. As a square earthen shaft tomb with a wooden chamber, it is 2. 23 meters deep and 6. 8 meters long in each side. The wooden chamber consist of the coffin in the center and the two side chambers in the south and north. A sacrificial person was buried to the west of the chamber. Eventhough the tomb was robbed in early days and only a few funeral objects have been found, it provides new information to the studies of the Chu Cultre of the late Spring and Automn and the early Warring States periods.
