AbstractThe change from planned economy to market economy has shattered the original economic pattern in China and shifted the unitary social structure toward a multi layer social structure,and the positions and circumstances of women of different professions in contemporary China have also revealed a multi directional tendency in the change in the economic pattern and social structure.Through an investigation on some of the women employees in Shanghais foreign invested enterprises,this article seeks to reflect their conditions in employment channels,job training,labor protection,income,consciousness and concept of rights and interests,choices of employment,and role conflicts.
