ased on the traditional Chinese customs of marriage, folklore, witchcraft as well as legendary myths and large amount of literary documents, this article introduces a typical cultural symbol in Chinese folklore in respect of marriage and reproduction. That is women’s clothes (including her petticoat, sleeves, etc.). These are sensitive symbols indicating particular part of her body, marriage and reproduction,virginity, and sexual desire. It is also the custom among Japanese folks, western aboriginals, Mediterranean civilization as well as western Asian countries. Thus we can conclude that women's clothes as the symbol of women's body is shared by both the eastern and western cultures.
