Pragmatic theories put forward a complete set of principles,maxims,methods and techniques for readers(hearers)to correctly,all-sidedly and deeply understand an utterance,a discourse or a text. But at first glance,these theories seem to be too difficult to comprehend and apply.This analysis of the short dialogue compiled by S.Levinson sets a good example for readers how to master and apply these pragmatic theories.
