Transformation of Wushu's Value Function in Modern Times

中国武术的价值功能在近代特定的历史背景下发生了根本性的质的演变，即由军事实用技术为主转化为社会精神文明手段为主。一方面，近代西方火器的输入及其广泛应用，改变了战争的进行方式，武术已无法满足新形势下反帝反封建军事斗争的需要，导致其军事价值功能的大大弱化；另一方面，适应中国近代社会政治经济发展的需要，武术的教育、健身养生、竞技观赏的价值功能引起了人们的关注，并获得了一定的发展。

Under the special background of modem,times, the function of Chinese Wushu has essentially transformed from a practical techruque applied in militny service into the fonn as a part of the spiritual civilization。Because of the influx and wide utilization of westem firearms , the way that the war carried on has ehanged,and Wushu could no longer meet the need of the war against imperialism and feudalism in a new time, hence the reduction of Wushu’s military function, On the other hand,with the development of Chinese politics and economy,the spiritual function of Wushu such as the educational function,budy building function and appreciative function in athletics,has aroused the people’s attention and has increased to some extent。
