The Flemish Movement and Belgian Linguistic Problem

语言是民族特性的象征,是民族意志的体现,是民族团结的凝聚力。反过来,语言对于一个由多民族组成的国家来说,若处理不好,又具有最大的离心力。在欧洲诸国,比利时语言问题尤为突出,其语言纠纷不仅在欧洲,而且在全世界都出了名。探讨比利时语言问题,将有助于我们从一个侧面来看语言对欧洲历史发展的影响。基于这一目的,笔者根据在比利时生活两年多的体会及蒐集到的资料,对此作一论述,请批评指正。

Linguistic rivalry between Walloons and Flemings has alway been the most remarkable phenomena and sensitive problem in Belgium since it got independence in 1830. It impacts on politics, economy, religion, culture, education and so on, and becomes the focus and crux of all contradictions and troubles. In order to approach the said issues, this article makes perspective on the Flemish Movement and its effect on Belgian linguistic problem. Also, the author draws some noticeable conclusions from his recent research.
