中国社会党充分利用了民初有利的政治环境,得以迅速发展。“以世界社会主义为目的,以国家社会主义为手段”是对以江亢虎为代表的中国社会党的社会主义理论较为恰当的概括。因其理论与民初中国社会现实相去甚远,这就决定了中国社会党的破产命运。但中国社会党试图以独立的形象对民初的政局施以民主主义和社会改良主义的影响,在历史上曾闪烁了耀眼的一瞬。

The Socialist Party of China made full use of the favorable political situa-tion soon after the founding of the RePublic of China. 'With the world socital-ism as the target and with the state socialism as the approach' is an appro-priate summary of the socialist theory advocated by the Socialist Paty of Chinawith Jiang Kanghu as its representative. Its enormous distance from the socialreality of that Period predetermined its fate of bankruptcy. However, its error-ts to exert some independent influence of democracy and social evolutionalismon the Political situation constitutes a short-time brilliance.
