摘要
讨论英语语篇各种衔接手段时,学者们多从语义、词汇和句法手段进行研究,对音系层的衔接功能报道较少。本文重点介绍和讨论音系层各种语音范畴和语篇衔接的关系,如在言语流的两个停顿之间的语调可描写为呈信封状的衰减单位,它的连续的有规律的出现从生理上保证口语语篇得以实现。语调也可按升调和降调的不同组合的调群描写。调群表达语篇中的不同语气,必要时体现语篇中不同成分之间的句法关系。语调按新信息和已知信息描写时,最能说明语篇如何按新旧信息的交替逐步组织语篇语义。此外头韵、半谐韵、辅韵、正韵及由轻重音节组成的各种韵律都可表达语篇语义并起衔接作用。
Cohesive means in producing English texts have been somewhat neglected on the phonologicallevel of language. The writer attempts to explore the relation between various phonological cate-gories and textual cohesion and coherence. The paper argues that the use of alliteration, asso-nance, rhyme and various prosodic combinations of weak and strong syllables tuffy express mean-ing and they can serve as cohesive ties in a text. Furthermore, it is said that the intonationhelps realise spoken texts physiologically on the one hand, and the English mood system andthe syntactic relation of expressions in the text on the other. When intonation is seen in termsof the information structure, it is the interchange of the given and new information that organizesthe ideational meaning of a text textually.
