近年来,有关翻译理论与实践的专著、教科书等层出不穷,几乎达到汗牛充栋的地步.但总的说来,自成一家、独具特色的上乘之作,似属寥寥.最近拜读了由中国对外翻译出版公司出版、翻译界老前辈刘重德教授编著的《文学翻译十讲》(Ten Lectures on Literary Translation,以下简称《十讲》),获益良多,令人有耳目一新之感.该书用英文写成,在语言运用方面别具一格:语言功力深厚,流畅地道,令外国读者在倍感亲切之余。

This paper is a comment On prof. Liu Zhongde's TEN LECTURES ON LITERARY TRANSLATION. It chiefly deals with: (1) On the three characters 'faithfulness, expressiveness and closeness' as a set of principles of translation; (2) On translating poems satisfactorily and successfully; (3) A further probe into the idea of translating poems of Prof. Liu Zhongde, Vice-chairman of the China Translation Association.
