摘要
0.0 导语每当我们论及现代英语中比较等级,首先浮现在我们脑海中的便是呈反义关系的级别性形容词和副词(antonymous and gradable adective and adverb),似乎唯独只有这两类词方能成为比较等级概念的载体;好象现代英语中只存在屈折型(inflected form:er/est+adj.+than)和分析型(periphrastic form:more/most+adj.+than)这两种比较等级的表现形式.乍一听来。
Most of the traditional grammarians have long represented the comparison in a misleading light, which, to a certain degree, has aroused much confusion in the notion of comparison; so that most people have taken for granted that only gradable adjectives and adverbs can be applied to comparative structure. And it seems that the inflected and the periphrastic are the only two formulas of comparison in English. In fact, the English language abonds in mediums of comparison. IMPLICIT COMPARISON is a case in point. In this paper the author focuses his research and discussion on IMPLICIT COMPARISON's definition, embodiments, cognition and indeterminacy.
