Tourism planning is a brand-new discipline. Although the current tourism planning work has been gaining more and more attention, both the exchange of the current experience and theoretical research are very much limited. This article, based on a speech delivered by the author in an academic seminar held in April, 1993, makes an initial exploration on four aspects regarding the important principles in the process of tourism planning.
