On A Nation's Image

近年来国际社会关注国家形象既是历史的进步,更是社会发展的需要。作为新形势下对权力政治进一步反思的产物,国家形象不具强力色彩,且以其他行为体的认可和接受为条件。这一问题的凸现,有利于推进世界和平与发展事业。改革开放以来,中国积极融入国际社会,但其形象塑造仍任重道远。

In recent years, the international community has paid close attention to the image of a nation. It is a his- torical progress, and more importantly a demand for social development. As the outcome of further reflect- ing over the power politics under new circumstances, a nation's image is not painted in the color of brutal forces; instead it must have other international entities' recognition and acceptance as the precondition. The emergence of this issue is beneficial to the promotion of the cause of world peace and development. Since its reform and opening up to the outside world, China has been an active player in the international community. However, China still shoulders an arduous task to mould its image, and still has a long way to go.
