中国共产党十一届三中全会以来所实行的改革开放的路线方针和政策,尤其是在1984年以后开始实行的城市经济体制改革,使中国的城市社会发生了巨大而深刻的变迁。这是一场涉及社会结构与社会文化等方面的全方位的社会变迁,是一场旨在加速社会现代化的变迁。在这一变迁中。

The reform of the economic system is a great and profound social change. One of its important chareteristics is to change the economic structure of the society to open up a broader road for the development of the commodity economy according to state planning. The result of urban reform of the economic system has led to greater differentiation between cities. Thus different cities underwent different degrees of changes. The development of market economy will inevitably introduce new ideas of value and new ways of living which correspond to market economy. Unlike big cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, Baoding has just witnessed the initial stage of social differentiation. So the variation in its way of living in consumption has distinctive features. The social change in Baoding will make its impact on the residents' way of living in consumption through three intermediate variables: income level, ideas of value and culture of social group.
