摘要
本文在系统地介绍了言语调节理论的产生、内容、理论基础和研究现状以后,运用现有的言语调节理论对三个美国儿童的言语调节进行了研究,重点探讨了他们是否、如何、到何种程度以及为什么会向英国英语作调整。结果发现三个被调查对象都在不同程度上作了长期调节(程度之大小同年龄有关),也有短期调节的倾向。作者还指出说话人的言语调节不但受受话人言语的影响,同时还受其它一系列主、客观因素的制约。
The first part of this paper is a survey of the theoretical background of speech accommoda-tion theory. A large portion of the paper, however, is devoted to the examination of threeAmerican children's linguistic variations in interpersonal communication in Britain: whether, how,to what extent and why they modify their speech towards that of their interlocutors and accom-modate themselves to British English. Both long-term and short-term accommodations are found intheir speech. It is suggested that this phonological modification is triggered not only by the natureof the speech of the interlocutor but alto by a set of other factors, both subjective and objective.
