试论基督教禁欲主义及其对欧洲中世纪体育发展的影响

THE CHRISTIAN ASCETICISM AND ITS INFLUENCE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF SPORT IN EUROPE IN MIDDLE AGES

欧洲中世纪是体育发展的“黑暗时代”,其主要原因是基督教所推行的禁欲主义。通过探讨禁欲主义的思想体系及其对欧洲中世纪体育发展的影响,指出:禁欲主义造成体育的全面衰退,使古希腊竞技运动消失,教会学校没有体育,民间体育萌芽得不到发展,人们的精神和肉体受到了严重摧残,从而给社会带来极大的危害。

The Christian asceticism was the major reason leading to the“dark times”of the development of sport in Europe in Middle Ages.Thestudy explored the ideology system of asceticism and its influen ceon thedevelopment of sport in Europe in Middle Ages.It is concluded thatthe asceticism had brought an all-round declination of sport of MiddleAges in Europe.The competitive sport originated from ancient Greek di-sappeared,the missionary schools did not offer physical education,therudiments of fork sport could not grow,and the people were wre-cked physically,thus seriously harming the society.
