罗宾德拉纳特·泰戈尔(Rabindranath Tagore,1861——1941),蜚声世界文坛的灿烂名星,印度伟大的民族主义者。他与甘地是同时代人且与甘地齐名。甘地被称为“圣雄”,他则被誉为“导师”(Guide)。尼赫鲁把甘地和泰戈尔称作是“世界最杰出的人物”。然而,人们对泰戈尔的文艺成就及其思想了解的比较多,介绍和评述的论著有如过江之鲫,而对他的丰富的政治思想却了解得甚少,这方面的著述也寥若晨星。本文正试图为弥补这一不足而作一初浅的尝试。一。
The article makes a general introductign of the political thought of Tagore, the great world-famous master of culture and appraises his patriotic thought of opposing imperialism and loving the motherland, his democratic thought of criticising exploitation and oppression and advocating Social reform and his internationalist thought of Supporting the emacipation struggles of the oriertal nations including the chinese. The author concludes that Tagore made an outstanding contribution to the peopIes' struggles of both India and the world with his thought and his thought has had far-reaching influence over people'sstruggles within and out of India.
