Bian is the representative of the modern school, who has developed the principle advocated by the modern school systematically into a comprehensive and applicable theory, the core of which is to have 'dun' (顿) in place of foot (步) so as to transplant the English poetic form as much as possible. Meanwhile, he and his followers carry out the theory strictly and effectively. The original and translation of the poem The Solitary Reaper by Wordsworth are quoted in contrast to illustrate that the poet and translator is consistent in his theory and practice. At the end of the paper the author states as a conclusion that 'dun in place of foot' is a practical means in translating English verse and that 'resemblance in form' is an appropriate principle in English verse translation.
