On English Palindrome and Regression and Chinese Counterparts

本文考证了英汉回文及回环的异同,并探讨了两种语言中回文向回环发展的共同道路,首次提出回环的成分可以小到词素,大到词汇、短语乃至句子的观点;并首次提出词汇作为最常用的回环成分可以分为一般词汇、同形异义词、多义词、同形异音异义词、转品词、同音异形异义词6种情况。

While giving an all-round study of two figures of speech,palindrome and regression,the paper dwells upon the view that regression evolves from palindrome both in Englishand Chinese.The author comes to an unprecedented conclusion that the key elementregressed in regression ranges from as elemenetary as morpheme to as complex as phraseand even clause and sentence;while words,the most often-used key element in regressionfall into six types:ordinary words,homonyms,polysemants,homographs,convertedwords,and homophones.
