扬州胥浦六朝墓

SIX-DYNASTIES TOMBS AT XUPU OF YANGZHOU,JIANGSU PROVINCE

胥浦位于江苏省扬州市仪征县城之西约4公里,地处蜀冈中段,冈势平缓,土质坚硬,宁扬公路穿境而过,南临长江,交通方便。1981年1—8月,为配合基建施工,江苏省文化厅组成发掘队,先后在这一区域内清理了一批古墓葬,其中有六朝砖室墓二十座,编号为M1—8、13、70、75、84、86—91、93、94。其中M13、70保存比较完整,其余各墓仅存墓壁,少数残破更甚,现综合报告如下。一、孙吴。

In 1931, 20 Six-Dynasties brick tombs were excavated at Xupu, a km west of seat of Yizheng County, Yangzhou Municipality, Jiangsu Province. They can be divided into two periods. Seven tombs belong to the early period, corresponding to the times of the Sun Wu State and the Western din Dynasty, and the rest 13 belong to the late period, corresponding to the Eastern din Dynasty and the Southern Dynasties. The early tombs have either three chambers, two chambers or one chamber, but all the late tombs have only one chamber. The funeral objects unearthed are mainly pottery and porcelain. Most of the early funeral objects hun pin (spirit pots) and models of the well, hearth, treadle-operated tilt hammer for hulling grains and domestic fowls and animals, which disappear in the late tombs and are replaced by celadon or pottery utensils of daily use, with the body higher, the center of gravity lower and the form more attrative and better for practical use.The district of Yangzhou lies on the northern bank of the Changjiang River and is not far away from the capital of the Six Dynasties, present Nanjing, and was the gateway to the political ,centre south of the Changjiang River. Therefore the district was then very important strategically There were very few things of the Six Dynasties found before. The discovery of these tombs is significant for understanding the material culture of the Yangzhou district in those ancient times.
