摘要
高厚堃教授早在1970年代初期参加北外《汉英词典》的编辑工作,十多年来一直研究词典学和词汇学。下面是他对1978年版的《汉英词典》的新思考,也代表他的研究心得。
The paper argues that in a medium-sized bilingual dictionary like the Chinese-English Diction-ary of 1978, a combination might be worked out for helping Chinese users to generate sentencesin English and English-speaking users to produce usage-correct sentences in Chinese. The paperproposes principles governing the selection of entries, the writing of definitions and the choiceof exemplificatory sentences. To illustrate, it takes certain entries from the dictionary and makescomments on each.
