内外瞩目的竹下外交

TAKESHITA'S DIPLOMACY THAT HAS ATTRACTED ATTENTIONBOTH AT HOME AND ABROAD

竹下内阁成立以来,在国际舞台上非常活跃,取得了一定成果,使日本外交具有“竹下色彩”。这说明日本开始对其外交战略作某些调整,以便在国际上发挥更大的政治作用,加速走向政治大国的步伐。但日本外交也面临一些难题,如打开日苏关系的僵局,处理好日美经济新摩擦以及真正做些有益于第三世界国家经济发展的好事等。

Since coming into office, Takeshita's cabinet has been most active on the international arena and has scored some successes, giving Japan's diplomacy a 'Takeshita imprint'. This demonstrates that Japan has begun to make certain readjustments in its foreign policy so that it will be able to play a greater political role internationally and to accelerate its steps towards a political power. However, Japan's foreign relations are also facing a number of difficult problems, such as how to break the stalemate in its relations with the Soviet Union, how to better handle the new economic frictions with the United States and how to really do something conducive to the economic deve- lopment of the third world countries.
