The Present Situation and Prospect of Australian-Chinese Economic and Trade Cooperation

澳大利亚和中国是APEC的两个重要成员国。中国经济增长对澳大利亚丰富资源的巨大需求以及澳大利亚对中国市场的期望,构成了澳中长期经贸合作的重要基础。在中国加入世贸组织后,两国合作的广阔前景已引起了双方的高度重视。根据2003年来两国签署的《澳中经济与贸易框架》,2005年澳中将签署自由贸易协定,而积极的澳中经贸合作将对澳中经济发展做出重要贡献。

Australia and China are two important members of APEC. The tremendous demand of China's economic growth for Australia's rich resources and the expectation by Australia of the Chinese market constitute important basis for long-term Australian-Chinese economic and trade cooperation. After China's accession to the WTO, vast prospect of the bilateral cooperation has provoked much attention in the two countries. According to the Australian-Chinese Economic and Trade Framework signed by the two countries in 2003, Australia and China will sign a free trade agreement in 2005, and positive Australian-Chinese economic and trade cooperation will make a significant contribution to their economic development.
