审美活动是人类审辨美丑、悲喜等审美对象的精神活动,它产生于实践活动之中,而又相对独立。审美活动是主体和客体相互作用的产物,它必然伴随着审美体验。审美活动的功能是使人和环境和谐平衡,它的最终目的是要创造美好的世界。

Aesthetic activity is a spiritual activity of mankind to appreciate and discriminate such aesthetic objects as beauty versus ugliness and melancholy versus pleasure. Aesthetic activity emerges in practical activity and yet possesses its own relative independence. Aesthetic activity is a product out of the mutual affecting between the subject and the object, and is necessarily accompanied by aesthetic experience. The function of aesthetic activity serves to harmonize and balance mankind and the environment, thus to create a beautiful world.
