摘要
语言选择是社会语言学的一个重要原则。本文着重概述关于语码转换的两种对立的观点:语码转换的相关理论和交互作用理论。片面强调可预测性或可解释性都是不可取的;把语码转换看作既相关又交互作用,比较符合实际。文中分析了研究语码转换的方法即问卷法和直接观察法的优缺点。最后讨论了语码转换的一些普遍功能和句法制约。
A principle central to sociolinguistocs is that of language choice, or code-switching, which was widely diseussed in the last 20 years. This paper looks at the different ways in which code-switch-ing has been described and explained. It highlights two distinct theories, co-relational and interac-tional, arguing that it seems wiser to look at all code-switching as both co-relational and interactional in character. Some of the strengths and weaknesses of both procedures are discussed.
