Choosing the Right Site for the Building of a New Sports Centre in a City

体育中心的选址,一要为大型运动竞技创造良好的条件,二要与城市发展相协调,以取得最大社会效益、经济效益和环境效益。根据我国城市条件,体育中心以选在市区内接近环路、便于组织集散、环境条件好、且离各大居民区平均距离较近的地方为宜。运动员村最好建在体育中心附近,与体育中心和其他赛场均有便捷的交通联系的地方。

In choosing the site for the building of a new sports centre, the following things should be considered: first, it should be able to provide favourable conditions for the holding of major sports competitions; second, it should fit into the general programme of city development so as to ensure maximal benefits socially, economically and environmentally. In the light of the existing condition of Chinese cities. a new sports centre should be lo(?)ated on the outskirts of a city, at a point nearest to most of the city's living quarters, where the environments are more pleasant and where large crowds can be easily assembled and evacuated. The athletes' village should be located near the sports centre, with efficient transport facilities linking it with the competition grounds.
