The Cultural Characteristics of Physical Education and Sports in China and the Modernization of Man

中国传统文化特质渗透到体育运动发展的历史中,形成了中国体育运动特殊的品格和气质。古代生命观的推演,必然产生有关身体运动的理论和实践。对古代竞技运动影响最深的思想观念是等级森严的礼乐观和谨慎克制的嬉戏观。现代体育运动所提出的新概念、新观念和新模式潜移默化地进入了现代化运动建设者的精神生活。它不仅将影响到家庭结构、社会结构、人际关系、伦理观念,而且将影响到人们的社会心理、性格、行为和(?)发展。

In the long course of their development, physical education and sports in China were stamped with the peculiar features of traditional Chinese culture. The development of the ancient outlook on life inevitably gave rise to both theoretical studies and practice of body movements. The two kinds of thinking that had the most significant impact on ancient sports were ritualism based on rigid social stratification and the idea of self-restrained amusement. The new concepts, new ideas and new models advanced by modern sports exert a subtle influence on the cultural life of the builders of modernization.They will not only affect the structure of the family and society, interpersonal relations and ethic codes, but will produce an impact on the (?)eople's socio-psychology, personalities, behaviours and physical well-being.
