Based on the drawings of Guilin construction about the old and new city and the drawing of the prince′s residence, a thorough study is presented which covers the historic development of the city space around Duxiu Hill in Guilin.Full explanation is offered about the choice of the city location , the function of Chaozong canal and the changes of Jingjiang Prince′s Residence. The changes of the central region in Guilin witnesses all the passage of various politics and culture as the core and has a tremendous influence on Lingnan. On the basis of concrete analysis of this region, a clear cognition about the development of the central Guilin is obtained so that the natural and historical culture resources are well protected and observed.
