In 1976, the scale of seismic intensity at Sunping was 7.2. The spectral analysis was made by the writers from the earthquake sound record taken at Chendu (distance from the earthquake-center is 220 kilometre) before the big earthquake. The emphasis was placed on investigating the frequency characteristics of two kinds of earthquake sound and theoretical analysis was made.
