The theory of memetics holds that linguistic memes,in replication and transmission,cannot just copy the original memes; instead,they produce many variations. According to the theory of incongruity,the nature of verbal humor lies in disharmony,which can be said to be caused by the variations of linguistic memes. Therefore,the verbal humor is triggered by the variations of linguistic memes. The paper attempts to analyze how the linguistic memes trigger humorous effect in the CNYM lines from the aspects of phonetics,vocabulary,sentence and discourse.
