摘要
詹姆斯·乔伊斯的短篇小说《阿拉比》讲述的是一个都柏林少年追求朦胧爱情,但最终梦想破灭的故事。根据读者反应论的观点,读者所发现的意义是读者和文本之间的一种交易。《阿拉比》中主人公的经历类似于读者试图从文本中获取意义的过程。作者在文本里使用的暗示、意象等写作技巧制造出一系列修辞效果引导读者去理解这个世界真正的运转方式:孩童魔幻般的世界和世俗的成人世界,即理想和现实的强烈反差。
Araby is a short story by James Joyce which is about a Dublin juvenile in pursuit of obscure love,but in the end his dream shattered.According to the viewpoints of reader-response criticism,the meaning of the text is transaction between the reader and the text.The personal experience of juvenile in Araby is just like the experience of the reader attempting to find out the special meaning within the context.The metaphor,image and other techniques used by the author intends to reveal the way the world works,i.e.a strong contrast between the magical world of childhood and the mundane world of adult responsibility.
