The Politico-Geographical Foundations of SANU

本文探讨了东盟一体化的政治地理背景，指出东盟一体化进程是对该地区“破碎地缘”的一种弥补。东盟地区一方面拥有文化汇融的地缘优势，另一方面缺乏统一而又充实的文化基础。因此建立一个由多种力量组成的平衡机制，并且这一机制必须充满发展的活力是东盟一体化的基点。这一基点一方面使得东盟寻求到了发展区域特色的地缘结构，另一方面它固有的开放姿态使得东盟在多极世界格局中，有可能成为一个独具特色的增长极。

This paper is a study of the politico-geographical background of the unity of the Southeast Asian Nations. It has pointed out that this integration is a kind of compensation for 'broken geographic structure' in this area. The Southeast Asia has advantage geographically for combination with different cultural systems but lacks a unified cultural inheritance acceptable to all nations of this region. It is necessary to build a balanced structure of power and vigour to speed the integration of SANU.This may be the politico-geographical structure for regionalization; on the other hand, its inherent structural openness will render it a special pole of development in the present world.
