Abstract With the development of the subregional economic cooperation along the Lancang Mekong River,the subregional tourism cooperation there has been brought up on the agenda.The authors hold that the development of the subregional tourism cooperation has a wide foundation such as the geographical advantages,the resource superiority,the new development of the political and economic environment,and the example of the subregional economic cooperation.The present situation is that the tourist infrastructures such as the trasportation,communications and hotels are under construction while the promotion of tourist products,the organization of tourist market and the development of international tounism are underway on multilateral basis.Meanwhile,the tourist items for further cooperation have been made ready.In order to strengthen the subregional tourism cooperation the authors make the following 5 suggestions:1.to set up the working system for the tourism cooperation;2.to work up the tourism planning with combined efforts;3.to improve the tourist infrastructure with joint efforts;4.to further develop the international tourism on the border area;5.to select the key tourist items for the cooperated development.
