Abstract The author,based on his study of the folklore and in accordance with the folk customs tourist activities carried out at present in our country,expounds the concept,characteristics, types and development principles of the folk customs tourism. The author holds that the“customs and habits”are the main feature of the folk customs tourism, and therefore the religious“gods” and “the supreme authorities” in the imperialist courts can be regarded as anything than customs and habits. The folk customs tourism is characterized by the straight popularity,outstanding national and local nature, secure cultural background,opmistic feelings and interests, and the fusion of time and space. And therefore, the objects and landscapes copied by the foreign customs and habits could not have an ever lasting life. The article further classifies the types of various tourist activities from different angles, and points out the principles that their development should follow.
