山东青州出土两件北朝彩绘石造像

Two Painted Stone Buddhist Statues unearthed at Qingzhou,Shandong Province

近年山东青州出土的彩绘石造像非常引人关注。本期又报道了两件北朝的造像资料:一为菩萨,一为释迦佛,均雕刻得十分精致,彩绘艳丽如初。

Discovery of Buddhist stone statues has been reported repeatedly from Qingzhou, Shandong province. The finest of them are a Bodhisattva from Eastern Wei and a Sakyamuni from Northern Qi, both carved and colored exquisitely. Mention should be made of the well preserved colors. The gold foils of the necklace and bracelets of the Bodhisattva are still glistening after a millennium and a half. Blue are edge of kasaya upon Sakyamuni and the border of its design in mineral green,ochre and blue against a red ground. A 0.5-cm-wide band of gold thread is inlaid in the stone. All this places the statues among the finest works of the Northern Dynasties Buddhist carvings, and suggests a well developed handicraft in the Qingzhou area.
