Sima Qian′s Academic Orientation and his View on Nature and Man

关于司马迁的学术倾向，史家常习惯于把它归为历史上子学中的某一家如道家或儒家，而忽略了司马迁多次说过的欲“成一家之言”这一重要的立言宗旨。事实上，他在《史记》的字里行间也为此而努力实践着，尽力煅铸自己独到的史哲史识和学术见解。他也正是以此宗旨来“究天人之际”

Many Scholars have reduced Sima Qian′s academic orientation simply to Taoism or Confucianism, for they seemed to have neglected Sima Qian′s claim to establish his own school of thought. As a matter of fact, Sima Qian put it into his writing, Records of the Historian, into which he also put his insight of human history as well as his unique academic viewpoint. So is his efforts in the search through man nature relation.
