On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Dr.Sun Yatsen, Zhongshan Municipal Goverment decided to construct a tourist area at Cuiheng,Dr.Sun Yatsen's home town,to better protect.develop and utilize its historical personality tourist resources and promote the economic development of the city. The author maintains that the development of Cuiheng tourist area should hinges on the characteristics and social style of its tourist resources and on the birth place of such and international personality as Dr. Sun Yatsen so as to form a comprehenSive sightSeeing tourist area with the old house, site and remains of the historical personality as the centre of the sightseeing and with local houses and folklore united around it. It may be summed up as The Footmarks or Renowned Personalities, Kaleidoscope of Local Houses and Grand View of Folklore, among which the Footmarks of Renowned Personalities as the central theme of the area. The author suggests that the area centre should lay emphasis on the restoration and protection and construct the old Cuiheng village as its surroundings while its edge area should put its focus on the utilization and construct artificial scenic spots and holiday tourist villages.
