Language issues in bilingual Hongkong

香港的双语现象一直是许多语言学家感兴趣的话题。今年七月一日，我国将恢复对香港行使主权，为庆贺香港的回归，同时也为了引起人们对香港回归后语言问题的关注。

On July 1st, 1997, Hongkong will return to China. The present article discusses the language issues of bilingual Hongkong. In the anthors view, Hongkong will still be a bilingual society after July 1st, 1997. Both Chinese and English will be official languages, while Chinese will take the first place. Chinese here is defined as the national common language —— Pu Tonghua. In order to have a smooth transition, Hongkong is doing some preparations such as popularizing and learning Pu Tonghua.
