This paper discusses the relationship between clause complexes and style by means of textual analysis within the framework of Hallidays systemic - functional grammar. The discussion reveals the stylistic function of clause complexes: the more complicated the clause complexes are, the more formal the textual style is, and vice versa. The conclusion suggests a new method of undertaking stylistic analysis by interpreting the logical relations between clauses within clause complexes of the analyzed text.
