By April 1995,Tourism Earthscience Research Association of China,China's national non-govermental academic organization, had traversed ten years.In the past ten years, the Association has not only done tremendouswork in the exploration,evaluation,development and protection of tourism resources, but also created TourismEarthscience-a frontier discipline between earthscience and tourism. This article is a summary written by the director of this research association during its tenth anniversary in 1995.The article is composed of four parts: thehistory of the founding and development of the association; the main academic activities in the past ten years; therelevant discipline - building of tourism earthscience and the contributions made by the Association to China'stourism industry.
