0.0 人们在交际中,由于某种原因,不能、不敢或不愿说出某些词语。这些词语有的被认为是危险的、神圣的、神奇的,有的被认为是令人难堪的,还有的被认为是不堪入耳的。因此。
Roughly speaking, taboo words in English fall into three types, namely obscenities,
profanities and vulgarities. This paper discusses their features and uses. In approaching
causes of linguistic taboo, the author argues that psychological cause is an important one.
Finally, euphemisms and their relation to taboo words are also touched upon.
