崇安汉城北岗一号建筑遗址

BUILDING SITE No. 1 OF BEIGANG AT THE RUINED HAN CITY, CHONG’AN

福建崇安城村汉代城址在崇安县兴田乡城村的西南部(图一)。城址东门外紧靠城墙的高地叫北岗。北岗高出周围地面7米左右(图版玖,1)。1980年对城址内外全面钻探,发现北岗上有础石和瓦砾堆积,确定是属于城址的一处建筑遗址。近年来,当地村民常到北岗挖土,建筑遗址受到一些破坏。1984年12月,福建省博物馆在报请上级批准后,与厦门大学人类学系考古专业共同组成考古队,对该遗址进行发掘(图二)。先在遗址东部开10米×10米的探方一个(编号T11),

Building Site No.1 of Beigang is situated to the east of the ruined Hart city at Chong'an, Fujian. Its excavation was carried out in 1984—1986. It covered an area of 2200 sq m. Using a hillock as its platform, the site consists of three roughly similar buildings. It is rectangular in plane with an orientation of 15 degrees and a total areaa of 1481 sq m as enclosed in rammed earthen walls. The southern and western walls are better preserved. There is a gate in the middle of the southern wall and three gates in the western wall, with the middle one just opposite to the eastern gate of the Han city.The three buildings coded as No.1, No.2 and No.3, are laid in a south-north line. Each consists of a main hall and a small court which are skirted with a winding corridor and an outer wall. No. 1 Foundation measure 20.8×23.5m; No, 2 and No. 3 are a bit smaller. These buildings are not only three independant units but also join together into a whole complex. Pottery drainage pipes were found under the foundations. There are large heaps of plate tiles, semi-cylindrical tiles and end tiles on the site, implying that the huildings originally were earthen-wall-and-tile-roof structures. Remains other than tiles are few, so the buildings possibly were not living quaters but some sort of public houses. Their date is coincident with that of the Han city at Chong'an, i.e. the period of the Min-Yue state. Judging by the large amount of charred wood and burnt red clods on the site, the buildings were probably destroyed by a great fire in the last period of the Min-Yue State.
