摘要 1990年8月2日伊拉克入侵科威特所引发的海湾危机,短短几天就迅速升级为领土吞并和军事对峙的严峻态势,并面临着爆发一场新战争的危险。这明显地反映了恃强凌弱。 The outbreak of the Gulf crisis and its rapid escalation has clearly refl- ected a suddeu intensification of the contradictions between the Iraqi expans- ionism and the U.S. hegemonism, as well as their direct trial of strength, in the Gulf, an area of strategic importance. In essence, it is a sharp conflict between the two opposing parties involved in the crisis competing for the in- erests of the Middle-East oil. The real and direct cause of the Crisis lies in iraq's ahnexation of. Ku- wait by force in order to seige its oil wealtb. The fundemental consideratio- ns and immediate objectives of the U.S. and other Western countries in gett- ing themselves involved militarily in the Culf area, are to secure oil supply for tke U.S. and the entire West world, preserve their respective vested in- terest, and try to prevent the outbreak of a new oil crisis.
