China's current system of competitive sports is coming under all-around impact of the rapid development ofthe socialist commodity economy, resulting in the following adaptive changes: 1. Things are moving more andmore according to the dictates of law rather than by administrative measures; 2. Efforts are being made toreplace centralized administration with open competition; 3. Replacement of a single system of ownership bydiversified ownerships; 4. The involvement of commercial laws in competitions; 5. Appreciation of the law ofvalue; 6. The interlacing 'vertical' and 'horizontal' systems of administration are being shaken; and 7. Theconcept of 'nationwide involvement' is being appraised from new angles.
