My Opinions on "Integrating Sport and Politics"

“体育与政治一体化”的提法没能准确地表达客观存在的事实。自从社会上出现体育与政治这两种社会现象后,它们之间就是有联系的。近百年来体育与政治的关系越来越密切,有利有弊,但是利大于弊,基本上是好事,不能过分夸大它的消极作用,不能幻想用一把刀子切掉体育与政治二者之间的联系。

The proposition for the'integration of sport and politics' is pointless because sport and politics have always been interrelated ever since these two phenomena first appeared in society. During the past century, in particular, the two have become more and more closely linked to each other. Such a development has both merits and demerits, but it is by and large a good thing since there are more merits than demerits. We should not exaggerate its negative effects, nor can we imagine cutting the ties between sport and politics by any means.
