PRIVATIZATION IN AFRICA: ITS PROGRESS AND PROBLEMS CONFRONTING

目前,世界上不同类型的国家——发达的工业国、处于不同发展水平的发展中国家;实行中央计划的国家、或是市场经济的国家,都在进行经济调整,以使政府对经济生活的干预、控制最有利于促进经济增长。由于市场竞争机制的重要性为愈来愈多的人所认识。

Facing serious difficult African Countries are privating their largely state-owned or state-controlled economies. The privatization trend has gainedmomentum in the past few years especially in West Africa, Nigeria, Coted'Ivoire, Senegal, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Cameroon, Guinea, etc.They have alltaken steps toward disolution or disinvestiment of state-run companies. The main reason for privatization in Africa is the necessary change of therole in African economic development. Less state control in the economy isimportant, the mere turning loose of state industries will not suffice to getAfrican economies going again. Given the specific condition in Africa and there are many questions touchupon the privatization to be answer, the process seems to require more timethan expected to produce desirable results.
